June 2102 PDM extend requirement for BPL Engineering Services
PDM were one of the first companies to produce renewable energy from solid biomass in the UK. Whilst working for PDM in the late 1990’s BPL’s Steve Read and Martin Riley helped to design and commission three BFB’s (Bubbling Fluid Beds) for the destruction of MBM (Meat and Bone Meal) that was produced when the BSE crisis was at its height. The BFB plants produce Combined Heat and Power for the rendering process, 15 MW electrical and 15 MW thermal. This system has worked very well for 13 years however PDM have decided to use BPL’s skills and experience to improve their performance.
BPL’s Technical Director Dr Yaobin Yang whose specialist area as a Doctor of Thermal Science is combustion and boiler design, will optimise the process using CFD (Computerised Fluid Dynamics) modelling and his years of commercial experience and knowledge gained from Sheffield University.
April 2012 EnviroTechnologies Inc. visit the UK to engage BPL Engineering Services.
EnviroTechnologies Inc. part of the Pacific Green Technologies Inc. group have developed and obtained a worldwide patent on two advanced emission abatement systems. Scott Poulter the CEO of Pacific Green chose BPL to optimise and engineer this process for use in the world wide waste to energy industry.
February 2012 PDM Prosper De Mulder engage BPL Engineering Services
BPL’s Operations Director Steve Read will lead this project having worked for many years in this industry previously. PDM are the country’s leading animal rendering service provider and have just joined forces with a large multi national business giving them a further UK boost. The decision to engage BPL was made by PDM Technical Director Robert Ratcliff as he required the specialist resource that BPL offered.

BPL’s Managing Director Ben Talbott and Engineering Director Martin Riley recently visited KNM in Malaysia and secured a 6 month Front End Engineering and Design study to engineer a full turnkey 80 MWe power plant at a permitted site in Peterborough. Mr Lee the CEO of KNM required BPL’s vast knowledge of this sector to enable fund raising of up to 650 Million GBP for this turnkey biomass based waste to energy plant.
The RWM show 'best ever'
The RWM show was BPL's best ever, this show was the third RWM show where BPL had a stand. A record number of NEW enquires were taken and a great deal of interest was rekindled with some old industry contacts of BPL's.
The show was very focused on what opportunities recycling waste can bring to a business. BPL's unique Technology really seemed to tick all of the boxes when it came to utilizing residues that were left over from other process like MRF's, shredders and composting facilities.
